Network installation and setup in Telford

We plan the network around your building, starting where the internet comes in and finishing at the furthest device that needs it.

Most of the work on a good network happens before anything gets fitted. Where the broadband comes in, what your walls are made of and where you actually use your devices all matter more than the speed printed on the box. So that’s where we start.

What the job can include

Every building’s different, so the survey decides what you need. It might be some or all of this:

  • Wi-Fi access points in the places they’ll do the most good
  • Cable between floors, rooms and access points
  • A new router or network switch, if the old one can’t keep up
  • Tidying up your Wi-Fi names and passwords, then reconnecting your devices
  • A guest network, so visitors stay off your own devices
  • Testing in the rooms you care about before we pack up

Why we prefer access points to plug-in extenders

Wi-Fi gets weaker every time it passes through a wall or floor, and brick, stone, foil-backed insulation and underfloor heating make it worse. A plug-in extender has to pass everything along over that same weak signal. You can end up with more bars on your phone and no extra speed.

An access point with a cable back to the router doesn’t have that problem. It gets a full-speed connection of its own, so video calls, streaming and gaming all hold up much better.

Cable isn’t always practical, and we’ll say so if it isn’t. If a run would mean too much disruption, we’ll find the next best option for your building instead of fitting the same kit we’d fit anywhere else.

Building or renovating?

Talk to us while the work’s still being planned. With the walls and floors open, it’s far easier to get cable to where you’ll want it. In a home you’re already living in, we’ll agree the routes with you before we drill anything.

Small-business networks

If you run a small office, shop or workshop, you can’t really have the network down when you need it, so we’ll arrange a time that works around your business. Staff, guests and equipment like card terminals can each have their own network if that’s useful.

What happens next

Fill in the enquiry form and tell us a bit about the building and what’s going wrong. We’ll arrange a survey and send you a quote before any work starts. If a few dead spots are your main problem, have a look at extending Wi-Fi around the home.

Common questions

Do I need to change my broadband provider?

Usually not. The network sits behind the connection you've already got, so your provider and contract can stay as they are. If the broadband itself is the problem, we'll tell you, because new equipment can't add speed that isn't reaching the house.

Is this suitable for a small business?

Yes. Shops, offices and workshops get the same Wi-Fi problems as homes, and they often need staff and guests kept on separate networks. We'll arrange a time that works around your business.

Can you use the equipment I already have?

Often, yes. We'll look at it during the survey and only suggest replacing what's holding things back.

Tell us where the Wi-Fi stops.

Send us a few details about your building and what's going wrong, and we'll email you back to arrange a survey.
